Increase the RAM of the phone to 512 MB 4 GB

Hello . In this video we shall learn how to increase the speed of your android mobile phone My name is Aekta When you buy a new phone usually it is fast However as you install apps, widgets and files it becomes slow Its speed goes down Sometimes even unistalling apps makes no difference . In this video I will tell you about the various things on which the speed of your android phone depends on. Then I will give you 5 tips to speed up your android phone

In the end I shall tell you about 2 apps that you can use There are a number of things that impact the speed of your android phone The first is CPU - the phone's central processing unit If the CPU's capacity is large then the response time will be better Simply put - the processing is better The time difference between receiving an output to an input is reduced Especially for apps that run on the CPU The other thing that impacts your phone's performance is RAM - Random Access Memory Multi-tasking is better if you have a good RAM It is easier to switch between apps With a better RAM the phone is easily able to manage multiple apps or complicated files simultaneously The third factor is OS or the phone's operating system OS allows the apps or programs on your phone to use the hardware OS does a no.

of tasks including memory management which can have an impact on the speed of your phone Another thing which we usually ignore is junk There are a no. of files or data on your phone that have not been used for sometime These files or data make your phone slow Deleting these files or data could improve the speed of your phone Now I will give you 5 tips to improve the speed of your android phone I will be using a Samsung Note 4 phone and this has the Android version 5.0.1

Tip 1 - Clear the cache on your phone regularly This frees up your phone's memory and increases the speed of your phone Let me show you how to clear the cache of an app Let me slide from the top and click on the phone's settings If you scroll down you will see the phone's applications Click on the application manager You will find details of all the apps downloaded on your phone Next to it is the SD card tab . Click on it to see the details of apps in your SD card. As of now there are no apps in my SD card The last tab is "Running". These are the apps that are currently running on my phone If you pay attention you will see a bar here It shows the system has 1GB RAM and apps are using .

92GB with .775 MB being free Let me go back to the application manager Let's click on an app and clear its cache Let's select the "Clash Of Clans"app You can see all the details of this app here At the bottom you will see Cache Within cache is a button "Clear Cache" The Cache contains 153MB If we clear the cache this memory will get freed and can be used by the phone Click on the "Clear Cache" button The Cache is cleared and you can see 0 Bytes in Cache It can be very time consuming to clear the cache of each app one by one At the end of the video I will tell you about an app using which you can clear the entire cache memory of your phone at one go

Tip 2 - Your mobile usually has apps and widgets installed that you rarely use but they utilize memory This bloatware is installed in our phones from the beginning This could be installed by your phone manufacturer such as Samsung, Motorola , LG who may have installed these apps in your phone or there could be apps installed by your telecom provider This is what we call bloatware - apps that are not installed by us but come pre-installed on the phone I had previously made a video on how to uninstall applications on your phone If you are watching this video from a PC then you can click on the box on the screen to watch the video If you are not watching from a PC you can click on the link provided in the description below to watch the video

Tip 3 - There are a number of animations on our phone that we don't even notice However when these animations are running they make our phone operate very slowly You can disbale these animations Click on the Phone Settings You will need to enable "Developer Options" on your phone Let's see how to enable "developer options" on your phone Click on "About Device" In "About Device" Click 7 times on "Build Number" After you click 7 times on "Build Number" your phone will be enter the developer mode Once your phone enters the developer mode you will start seeing "Developer Options" I have already enabled the developer options previously Click on "Developer Options" Scroll down and you will see options for animations There are 3 different options for animations Windows animation scale , Transition animation scale and Animator duration scale By default they are set to 1X We need to disable these Before that I will explain what these options do I will change this to a higher no. to show you the impact on your phone Click on the windows animation scale and these radio buttons will open Click on 10X Click on Transition animation scale and choose 10X Click on Animator duration scale and choose 10X Let me get out of this menu now If you pay attention you will notice that my phone has become very slow The sliding action has become extremely slow The screen refreshes extremely slowly The screen transitions extremely slowly This is due to the fact that we changed the animation settings Click again on "Developer Options" The phone has become extremely slow Scroll down to the animation options Click on the Windows Animation Scale If you recall the default value was 1X. Now we will turn off this animation.

Similarly, turn off the animation for the Transition animation scale And turn off the animation for the Animator duration scale You will notice that now the screens are getting refreshed very quickly The refresh rate or the transition time has reduced significantly This is a personal preference.

Some people like animation while others do not It depends on you whether you want to keep animation on your phone or not. This is a lag of a few seconds that makes it appear that our phone has become fast It may be better to switch off this animation as it helps speed up your phone slightly

Tip 4 - If we don't want to unistall apps we can move them to a SD card and can transfer media files or apps from our phone thus saving our phone memory Let's see how to do this Click on Settings Scroll down and click on Application Manager Your downloaded apps will open Let's choose an app - Clash Of Clans Click on it and if you recall we cleared the cache previously Click on the "Move to SD Card" option This button now displays "Moving "

The app is being moved to the SD card and the memory will be freed up on my phone If the data on your app is large it may take some time to move the app Application has been successfully moved to the SD card Now click on App Info Click on the "SD Card" tab All our apps will be displayed There is tick next to the " Clash Of Clans " app This means the "Clash Of Clans" app has been shifted to the SD card Tip 5 - Our phone slows down with a no. of simultaneous processes You can limit the no. of simultaneous processes through your phone settings Go to Settings and scroll down to "Developer Options" Click on "Developer Options" and scroll down to "Apps" Within "Apps" there is the option of "Limit Background processes" What is "Limit Background Processes"? If you recall earlier I told you about RAM which allows us to manage multiple processes simultaneously If we limit a process then it frees up the RAM and speeds up the phone What does a number of simulatenous processes mean ? Let me explain this to you If I exit "Developer Options" and click on this button on my phone It shows me all the apps or programs that are currently running on my phone at this time This is called multi-tasking and the RAM is handling all these processes at the same time. This uses up a lot of memory and also affects the speed of the phone Let's go back to Settings and "Developer Options" and see how we can limit the no. of processes at one time Click on "Limit Background Processes" and a menu will open You can choose how many simultaneous background processes you want at a given time Currently the default option is standard limit but you can reduce it My suggestion would be to keep this at 3 or 4

If you choose "No background processes" you may encounter some issues on your phone Even with "At Most 1 Process" you may face some issues I will choose the "At Most 4 Processes" option If there are more than 4 processes at any point of time they will be shut down These were the 5 tips to speed up your phone Now I will tell you about 2 apps that you can install on your phone to speed up your android mobile The first app that we will learn about is Greenify You can download the Greenify app on your Android Phone from the Play Store I have already installed this app on my phone

Let's learn how to use this app Click on the app and open it I have previously used Greenify hence you can see some apps here If you are using Greenify for the first time it will be completely empty You can hibernate your apps here one by one What does this mean ? There are apps that keep on running in the background that neither do you open nor do you want to uninstall If you don't want to uninstall these apps you could send them into a hibernation mode. By sending them into a hibernation mode these apps will not consume too much memory Click on the "+" icon All our apps will open in the App Analyzer Let us choose one app to hibernate Click on the "Camera MX" app "Camera MX" is selected and changes to a green color

At the bottom you can see a tick mark Click on the tick mark Camera MX app is now pending manual hibernation This means you can now hibernate this app. It is still pending it has not been hibernated yet. Click on Camera MX and a green button shall appear at the bottom with the ZZZ wording.

Click on the green button . There are some features here for which you will need to enable the accessibility service I will leave this for now Let us choose another app for now Click on the app "Gaana" and click on the tick mark Select "Gaana" and click on the green ZZZ button This also requires accessibility service of Greenify to be enabled to automate hibernation Click on Settings to reach accessibility settings of your phone You will see "Greenify - Automated Hibernation" This is currently switched off. Click on it Enable automated hibernation by clicking the button on top and then clicking ok The settings have now been enabled Let's go back to the Greenify menu and try to hibernate those apps again Click on the "Gaana" app and the ZZZ green button The "Gaana" app now appears in the hibenrated section This means that this app has now been hibernated This is the other app we were unable to hibernate earlier Click on the app and the green ZZZ button and this app has also been successfully hibernated The important thing to note is that if you hibernate an app you will save memory but you will also not receive any notifications If you hibernate a news app or a cricket scores app you will not receive notifications or scores Till you open the app it will continue in hibernation mode and there will be no activity in the app If you wish to open a hibernated app - click on the app and then click the Play button on top And the app shall open This is how you can move an app out of hibernation mode The other app that I want to cover here is DU Speed Booster This is a very useful app and is always installed on my phone Come let's learn how to use this app You can install DU Speed Booster from the Play Store

Since this is already installed on my phone I will click it to open it The app is opening now The first time you open this app it will show you a screen like this Click on Start The app is scanning the phone Post scanning it tells us our overall boost If you wish you can remove your trash or your junk files Click on Trash Cleaner It scans Cache , Residual Files and System Trash These are already in excess of 4 GB So many junk files have accumulated on my phone There is over 5.5 GB of trash on my phone and I should delete this

You can clear the cache for each of these apps one by one However I want to clean the entire cache at one go Click on the Clean 5GB button My cache should get cleared now Lets repeat the scan again Click on Trash Cleaner again

Now only 637 MB of trash remains on my phone Let me clean this as well The entire trash has now been removed from my phone using Trash Cleaner You can also click on App Manager You can move your apps to the SD card through the App Manager I covered this earlier in this video however you can do the same activity through this app as well You can also uninstall your apps here Let's go back to the "Phone Boost" option Click on Phone Boost and it will show you how much of your memory can be released . There is over 800 MB of memory that is being used by my phone that can be released Click on the Release Button and this would free up over 500 MB of space from my phone

I am currently using Mobizen on my phone so I will un-select it Click on the Release button Over 460 MB of memory has been released on my phone This should help speed up my phone further This is a very useful app that you can install on your phone and use it to periodically clear your phone cache.

If your phone does not speed-up despite trying all these options then what should one do ? You can do a hard re-set of your phone or re-set it to the original factory settings However you may lose all the changes you may have made to your phone If you don't find any significant changes even after the hard re-set then maybe it is time to get a new phone.
